Gwinnett Locally Grown:  The Market is Open!

The Market is now OPEN until Monday at noon!! Click here to order now!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Gwinnett Locally Grown! We have been absent for a little while, but now we are back and very excited to be able to provide you with some delicious and locally grown food.

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Luisa Martinez and I am the new market manager here at GLG. I am a new Georgia resident, I moved here from New Jersey about 8 months ago. I came across the Rancho Alegre Farm website way before I even moved to Gwinnett, while researching the area and hoping to find a farmer's market near my soon to be neighborhood. Fast forwad to now, not only did a find a market but I am now also the manager! This is quite a change for me, and I am very excited to be able to share my passion for good food via this platform with you all.

Eating local means eating seasonal, and eating seasonal is great for a few reasons. First, it is cheaper to buy foods that are in season, they will also taste better and will be more nutrient dense.

Please browse through the market, see the great variety of fruits and vegetables being offered this week!

ALSO AVAILABLE

  • Raw Cow's Milk

Old99Farm Market:  Old 99 farm, week of Apr 17 2016

It’s wednesday already, the loyal regulars have their orders in even without my bulletin arriving in their inboxes. thank you.

Greens greens greens (not golf type) are luscious. Have at it for next couple weeks. Mixed salad greens especially prime right now.

Lots of eggs, lamb, beef and chicken.

Did you know…

In Romania’s Apuseni Mountain’s, the historic community of Rosia Montana (20 minutes from Cami’s home town) have been resisting plans to build Europe’s largest gold mine for over a decade. If built, the mine would level four mountains, raze 900 homes, displace 2,000 subsistence farmers and produce 196.4 million tonnes of cyanide polluted waste. Following the community’s struggle to stop the plans of Canadian multinational Gabriel Resources, In Defence of Life takes us behind the scenes of a landmark European struggle and a globally significant victory for civil society. Having admitted defeat, Gabriel Resources is filing to sue the Romanian Government for over $4billion in damages.

See this video called In Defence of Life about this and several other places on the planet where Canadian and Australian mining cos are making life very difficult for local peoples. The Romanian piece starts at 16:30 or so.

Lake Placid Online Farmer's Market:  Spring/Summer Schedule

Hello everyone!

I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful weather the past few days.

As I told those of you who ordered at the last market, I am excited to announce that this year we are continuing the Market through what used to be our “hiatus” (May-September). The new dates for spring and summer are as follows:

April 29 2016 – May 4th 2016

June 3 2016 – June 8 2016

July 1 2016 – July 6 2016

August 5 2016 – August 10 2016

September 2 2016 – September 7 2016

As always, we are trying to grow the Market and provide more of what you like. If you have any suggestions for a local farmer you’d like to see in the market, or a certain product, please email me and I can try to incorporate those requests.

Some of you also shared that you wanted to share this information with your friends…and now you have two ways to do this!

You can forward my “Market is Open” blog posts via email to a friend to see what’s available.

If a friend wants to sign up to receive information from us, they can use our handy new subscription bar at the top of the page to provide their name and email address. They will then be added to an email list (we never share this list with anyone, I promise!) and will then receive the blog posts.

When and if a reader decides they want to order, they will need to sign up for a free account on this page. No need to enter credit card information until you decide to place an order! When you register as a user, you automatically receive any correspondence as well.

As always, if you have any questions, please email me at lponlinefarmersmarket@gmail.com.

Best,
Christie
