Maple-Bacon Chicken Wings

Ingredients
6 slices Bacon (cut into 1/2-inch pieces)
4 cloves Garlic (minced)
1/2 cup Ketchup
1/2 cup Maple syrup
1/4 cup Applesauce
2 tablespoons Soy sauce
1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Brown sugar
2 pounds Chicken wings (split)
Salt & pepper to taste
1 cup Flour (for dredging)
High flashpoint oil (for frying)

Step by Step Instructions
  1. Cook the bacon in a saucepan over medium heat until nearly crisp. Add the garlic and let it cook and lightly brown for 1 minute.
  2. Whisk the ketchup, maple syrup, applesauce, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and brown sugar together in the saucepan. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let cook for 1 or 2 minutes to thicken. Set the mixture aside.
  3. Rinse the wings and pat them dry. Season them with salt & pepper and dredge them in the flour. Set the wings aside.
  4. Heat the oil to 375 in a large saucepan or deep fryer. Fry the wings for 8 to 10 minutes, working in small batches. Set the fried wings onto a paper towel to drain off excess oil
  5. Once all of the wings have been cooked, toss them with the prepared maple bacon sauce and serve warm.
