UPDATE CONTACT With all the hustle and bustle of back-to-school and new routines, it’s easy to forget things like picking up your TCH order. Remember that we can’t keep your items past 12pm, and we’ll try contacting you any way we know how to make sure you get what you ordered. Now’s a great time to check the phone number on your account to make sure it’s a number I can reach you at 11:45am on a Saturday. I start calling everyone who hasn’t picked up yet then, and will keep trying to reach you until 12pm, when we have to pack it all up. I hate seeing people’s food go somewhere else, and having a good phone number on your account is the best way to keep that from happening.

Main Market Location and Pick Up
Building 106, Colony Park Dr. in the Basement of Suite 100, Cumming, GA 30040. Pick up every Saturday between 10-12pm.

Old99Farm Market:  Old 99 Farm, week of Nov 29 2015

I was sure I made this entry on Sunday, but Kazlyn pointed out to me this am that not so, must have entered a glitch in the matrix.

As of Nov 29th, we can offer the following crops: lettuce and mixed greens, sweet potato, cherry tomatoes(red, yellow and orange), celeriac, leek, cilantro, parsley, parsley root, kale, three varieties of chard, collards, peppers, eggplant, spaghetti and turban (Red October) squash.
The laying hens are producing plenty of delicious eggs to go around. The freezers are full of meats: lamb, beef, chicken, duck, goose, pork.

Hope you’re following the COP21 event in Paris. I recommend The Great Challenge blogspot as one good source of on-site analysis by Albert Bates.

ALFN Local Food Club:  Market Reminder

Good Evening ALFN Members

Remember to finalize your order on the market before tomorrow at noon. We still have beautiful carrots by Little Rock Urban Farming. If you are already planning for your spring garden, ABC Natural Greenhouse and Herb Farm has a few fun seeds you can get now!

Also, I still need some volunteers for Saturday. Here is the link to sign up. Thanks for the help!

This morning, NPR had an interesting little blurb on how climate change affects farmers. The piece looked at how multinational companies like Mars notices changes in production from global cocoa growers. The report cites models that show West Africa drying up with climate change. The interview reminded me of my neighbor in a small village in northern Mozambique. I called her grandma, and she treated me like her grandson. She was a farmer and had been her whole life. She talked about seeing snow, colder temperatures and more consistent rain when she was younger. She knew nothing of international panels on climate change nor the numerous peer-reviewed articles on the subject. What she knew, she knew from experience. In her own way, she knew about climate change because climate patterns were the infrastructure of her way of living and surviving in the world. We need the peer-reviewed articles to coax governmental leviathans into action. But, the evidence is clear for many growers who depend upon climate patterns for a livelihood.
