NEWS AND NOTES

Welcome CnG Outdoors & More. This week Christina Monin has listed several essential oil blends from DoTerra, and several beautiful doilies handmade by her mother.

If you would like to order hog jowl for New Year’s, which is not actually on the market, please drop Weaver Farms an email to let them know.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has fabric-lined baskets filled with three herb plants, which will make great pick-me-up gifts during the winter months. We also have a good variety of houseplants, with more to come shortly.

Frontier Family Farm will continue to supply us with hydroponic vegetables throughout the winter. Three types of lettuce, as well as spinach and broccoli, should be available all winter, barring crop failure, with brussels sprouts being available for several more weeks.

But our farmers’ market is not just about vegetables. Please take note of some of the seasonal items available this week: Live Water Kefir Grains and Square Bale Grass Hay from Triple B Farms; Ground Beef from Paccman Ranch; and several flavors of grape jelly from Weaver Farms.

We also have lots of our regular year-round items: perennial, herb, and fern plants, as well as a good selection of houseplants; local milk, eggs, and honey; lots of different pork cuts; several dried herbs and fresh, as well as lots of homemade herbal products too.

(L to R) Broccoli Florets from Frontier Family Farm, Circle Doily and several types of essential oils from CnG Outdoors & More, Small Grained Heirloom Popcorn from Wayne Diller, Spider Plant from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse.

ALFN Local Food Club:  Market Reminder

Twas the night before market closing
And all through the website,
ALFN members were furiously ordering with the click of a mouse.

Other ALFN members dreamed of dancing kohlrabi and bubbling goat soap,
While Arkansas growers considered planing more kale and cabbage
Due to an unseasonably hot winter.

When all of a sudden there arose a tremendous shout for joy with laughter,
As ALFN members realized what local beauty and nutrient density
Came from careful cultivation and attention to Earth—our life-giving matter.

Peace
